The Education Ministry constituted a three-member committee to examine a student’s death at IIIT Ranchi, according to its 13 October release. Professor Rajni Abbi was named as chair, with a psychiatrist and a ministry officer as members.
The committee was asked to review circumstances, support systems, counselling, mentoring and grievance mechanisms. The announcement did not establish a cause of death or assign blame. It described an institutional review and proposed recommendations for student well-being.
