The ministry says the project covers ecosystems including mangroves, coastal watersheds, seagrass, salt marshes and coral reefs, alongside the livelihoods of people in vulnerable coastal areas. At the opening, Environment Secretary Narendra Bhooshan called for existing shoreline-change assessments, hazard-line maps and vulnerability studies to inform planning and investment at state, district and local levels. The workshop continues through October 30.
